Our Exhibition Moves to Nottingham

January – March 2023: Bonington Gallery, Nottingham Trent University

The exhibition we curated last spring as part of our research project as well as a teaching project at the English Department of the Johannes Gutenberg Universität-Mainz/Germersheim is now crossing the channel and moving to Nottingham. You can find it in Bonington Gallery, from the 21st of January until the 11th of March, and we will celebrate an official opening night on Friday, the 20th of January at 6pm. For more information visit:

Bonington Vitrines #20: Spaces of Translation – European Magazines, 1945-65

Europa in Kulturzeitschriften der Nachkriegszeit
Europe in Post-War Cultural Journals

May – June 2022
Weißenburger Tor in Germersheim

The project’s exhibition will be free and open to the public and will help communicate some of the most important results of our research. Visitors will be able to interact with some of the most important post-war journals in our corpus, learning about the stories behind the people who launched them, their commitment to promoting literature and culture, and their visions and hopes for a post-war Europe.

The exhibition will coincide with the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Auslands- und Dolmetscherinstitut [Foreign and Interpreting Institute] at the Germersheim campus of the JGU Mainz by the French occupying forces in 1947. It will also allow MA students at both Nottingham Trent and Mainz to share their research through an innovative international teaching project.
